Fran Shumway's Quilt

Mountaineer customer Fran Shumway (46R #7097) made this beautiful quilt, entitled “Adventures Inside the Blue Line: A 46R’s Journey,” over the last two years. It was on display at the recent 46er gathering in Lake Placid. The patches featured on the quilt are the Mountaineer’s own Peak Patches! Thanks for sharing, Fran.

We had a great trip and didn’t summit our main objective but put in a good effort.  We were in the Charakusa Valley for a month, and the only other people in the whole valley were a group led by an American named Matt McCormick (on right in photo).

Just climbed with Vic Benes and Ron Bixby. The photo is from the summit of Forbidden Peak via the NW face/N Ridge – july 23/24 2010. Vic celebrated his 80th Birthday on the route.  Inspirational!
