Hey everybody! Here is your 411 on fishing conditions in the Keene and Lake Placid area:
After a huge spike in River levels this past Friday night (West Branch of the Ausable went from 1200cfs to 16,000cfs) things have mellowed out and returned to closer-to-average water levels. Temps are cool (in the low 50’s), but fish are becoming more active after being shell-shocked on Saturday from high water. There are a few bugs around, but you will find big-streamers to be the ticket for the time being. Size 4-8 BH Wooly Buggers, CH Marabou Muddlers, Weighted Muddlers and Stonefly Nymphs. Fish across and down to fish in holding water, most strikes happening on the drift and at end of swing.
Ponds are fishing well too as fishing conditions across the High Peaks continue to improve. Stay tuned for weekly updates on conditions here and always feel free to stop into the shop or call/email with any questions.
World Famous FREE Casting Clinics will start Mid-June on Wednesday nights…be sure to come by. All abilities welcome.
