Fly Fishing Conditions 6/17/14

Posted by Mike Kaz

The West Branch of the Ausable is fishing well again after we had a swell (to about 7,000cfs) but is running at 1,000cfs again, a good fishing level. This is an above-average water level for this time of year, but it is running clear and at a good temp…around 55-60 degrees. Size 8-10 BH Wooly Buggers (Black), 8-10 CH Marabou Muddlers (White), Weighted Muddlers 8-10 and Yellow Stonefly Nymphs. Adams Parachutes 14-16. Hendricksons 12-14. BH HE Nymphs and PT Nymphs are productive as well.

Mid-Late day is still producing the most fish.

Bass/Pike and Musky fishing will be getting better and better as we wear into June and July. Time to get out the big rods/lines/flies!

World Famous FREE Casting Clinics will start tomorrow, June 18th (6-7 p.m.) and run through the end of August…be sure to come by. All abilities welcome!
