Name: Nick Gulli

Role at The Mountaineer: Comic relief for the staff; buyer for ice and rock climbing equipment, packs and books. Employed at The Mountaineer since the late-1900’s.

Favorite product sold at The Mountaineer: Water bottles, ’cause we all need to stay hydrated! And Cassin X-All Mountain ice tools, ’cause they’re awesome and Italian (like me). Hyperlite Mountain Gear (HMG) 3400 (55L) Ice Pack, just awesome and made in America (like me)

Notable outdoor adventures: Staying alive after 20+ years of exploring and climbing (and failing on peaks from Mexico to Peru to the Adirondacks). Hey, better to do and fail than not to do!

Fondest memory in the Adirondack Park: My next day out! And the birth of my daughter, Zarela, at Saranac Lake Hospital.

When you’re not working, what are you doing? Showing my daughter the mountains, lakes and backcountry. Drums and music. Exploring for new ice and rock climbs with my boyfriend Ben Frantz. Making the best out of the short time I get to spend with my wife.

Favorite food after a long day in the mountains: Brown rice, yellow split peas and avocados! With Marie Sharp Habanero sauce. And cold well water.
