Hyper Puff Parka
How can you NOT think of ice climbing in the middle of summer when it’s hot and humid out?! Or skiing off the summit of a cold snowy Adirondack High Peak?! Hanging around Chapel Pond or The Palisades on Lake Champlain with the wind and snow blowing in your face, almost frozen solid, it sounds like a nice thought when your melting from the August humidity. Cold weather is in our blood, for 6-8 months we battle cold weather and snow in Keene Valley and the High Peaks and we love it! We’re always figuring out ways to stay warmer, which means more fun, move faster, be lighter, be better at winter! Last year we tested out the Patagonia Hyper Puff Parka-WOW. I found myself trying to find colder days to climb and windier, sunrise summits to stand on so that I could truly put this jacket to the test. Clocking it at 824 grams makes carrying this with you on long missions a cinch! The jacket comes with a small stuff sack so your warm at those multi-pitch belay stations and not thinking of lugging additional weight on a hard climb. A helmet compatible hood and two way zipper makes it ideal for cold belays on the North Face of Pitchoff. I can’t say too many more great things about this jacket except it’s my “go to” piece for cold winter days! 200g Innovative Hyper DAS(dead air space) insulation offers maximum loft while still allowing it to compress.
