Grivel G20 Plus

This staff pick was recommended without hesitation by Dustin Ulrich. He says “The big deal is the hot forged removable front point. These are the lightest most technical crampon on the market.” Want to know more about the G20 Plus? Click here

Mountaineer Pom Turtle Fur Hat

This hat is a winter staple for Brittany Purdy. These hats are handcrafted by home knitters in Vermont. They come in awesome colors and are super warm. BONUS: post a picture in your favorite Turtle Fur product, using #projectwarmth. Lastly tag @turtlefur and @MountaineerBandana and ¡Voila! TWO hats or cold weather accessories will be donated to someone in need. More info here

Kahtoola Microspikes

Traction is a winter must have for Nick Gulli. Find Nick strapping these on for treks out to his woodshed and on summit approaches. Nick adds “Don’t fake the funk, use crampons when your microspikes aren’t cutting it. Especially relevant the Grivel Air Tech crampon will get the job done when microspikes fall short.”

Ultimate Direction Skimo Pack

Skimo gear is on the top of Drew Haas‘s list. This lightweight, breathable and durable pack is perfect for fast uphill ski pursuits. There’s more, this pack allows you to easily carry skis during boot packs without having to take it off. Mind Blown. Get one for our Ski Mountaineering Classic Race at Whiteface Mountain on March 18th.

Patagonia Nano-Air Light Hybrid Vest

This vest is everything including a year round layering choice for seasoned staff member Chuck Bruha. It is airy, warm, stretchy, and breathable hence perfect for high-exertion activities and cool-weather missions.

Ortovox Courmayeur Shirt and Galvan Fly Reels

Next are two treasured pieces of gear found in the Mike Kaz collection. Mike says ” The Courmayeur shirt is my favorite lightweight mid layer for ski touring” This shirt is a dream! Made of soft merino wool. It’s stylish and functional. Don’t worry we didn’t forget about the fly reels. Kaz loves the Rush Light and Brookie from Galvan. Why? “They are made in the USA, family owned, my oldest reel is over 18 years old, and they are honestly priced compared to other high-end fly fishing reels.” Catch Kaz Wednesday nights this August for free fly casting clinics.

Mountaineer Bandanna

The Mountaineer Bandanna is a classic pick by Gwen McGiver. The adventure pictures submitted by customers from all over the world capture boundless outdoor accomplishments.  This piece of gear perfectly represents what this shop is all about. We are serious mountaineers, expeditionists, hikers, fly fisherman, campers, rock and ice climbers, trail runners, backcountry skiers, young and old, short and tall,  and we proudly wear our mountaineer bandannas.
